Three things I learned about Personal Development
I recently started to learn about self improvement / personal development / mindset. I want to share the three things that I think are important and that I learned most recently.
#1 Bad Events
Everyone has good and bad days. And every day, you have to make decisions that may impact your life. Sometimes, it appears that bad events happens to us more than to someone else and the whole world seems to be against us. The important thing here is how you react to these events. The reaction is very important, since it changes the way of thinking about these events. If you stay positive, will feel positive. Many things cannot be changed by ourself (it’s not in our power), so why should you harm yourself by being negative?
One example is the death of a person you know. Since it is a tragic event, you will probably feel negative about what happened. Each person processes death differently, but you can also improve your mindset on this. You can either keep asking yourself why this person died or you are happy that this person was a part of your life. It is always important to look at things from different perspectives.
#2 Excuses
People have excuses because they work. It is easy to say that you have headache as an excuse to not go to the gym. And it works pretty well, because you obviously cannot be physically active when your head hurts. In my opinion this is a bad excuse. You probably know that it is also a matter of making priorities and not having enough time.
#3 Other people
Influencing in general is a very powerful thing. Many people look up to someone else, follow them and want to be like this person. Whether it is in real life or in social media, whereas the latter became very popular lately. Especially when you are able to follow the person’s life using short videos or pictures.
Even if you don’t think that you can be influenced, some time in the future you see a product somewhere and remember that someone used it, so you make the choice of buying it. This also happens when you see a picture of someone’s vacation. You may think that you want to do the same, but you can’t because you don’t have the time or money. In the end it is all the focus on negative or positive things. People tend to rate negative things tremendously higher than positive ones. For example, 10 good things happened to you and then one bad thing came up, so you immediately feel bad. You should not care what other people think or have, because this leads to a path of unhappiness.
